Jailbreak iOS 6 Tethered Using RedSn0w (Mac)

iOS 6 was released just one day ago, the big question is what is next after downloading the new version of iOS with its great details? OK, the simple answer is you can go ahead and jailbreak your iOS 6, but you have to keep some notes in your mind:

The 1st note is: This is a TETHERED JAILBREAK.

The 2nd note is: This TETHERED JAILBREAK will work on A4 devices ONLY.

Moreover, there is no jailbreak tool at the moment that would install Cydia on iOS 6 which means that you will have to install Cydia MANUALLY.

How To Jailbreak iOS 6 Tethered Using RedSn0w 0.9.13dev4:

1) Install iOS 6 on your device (A4 Device) How? You will need to know the location of the IPSW firmware file, for Mac users, they can find it in:
Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ if you updated using iTunes.

2) Download iOS 6 from HERE.

3) Connect your device to your computer and place it in the DFU mode.

4) Download RedSn0w 0.9.13dev4 from HERE and run it:

  • Go to extras, select IPSW.
  • Select your iOS 6 firmware file and it should then identify your firmware.
  • Click on back and then click on jailbreak.
  • A dialogue box will come up with “preparing jailbreak data” followed by a page with more options.
  • Make sure you have ‘Install SSH’ is checked and then click next. The iPhone will go through the jailbreak process.
5) Once complete, place the device back into DFU mode.

6) Click back, and click just boot. A pineapple logo should appear on the device, which means it’s a tethered boot. Once you are back on your lockscreen, you can close RedSn0w.
Installing Cydia On your iDevice:

1) Go to Settings, Wi-Fi, and click the arrow next to the connected Wi-Fi router.
2) Look up your IP address for your Wi-Fi connection.
3) You will also need a computer that is on the same network and with it open the terminal app.
4) Write ‘ssh root@(insert your iDevice’s ip address here)’ e.g: ssh root@10.0.1.27.

5) After a couple of seconds, it should connect and will ask you for your iDevice’s password.
6) Type in “alpine” Once connected, you will need paste the following code into the terminal:
“wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh”
7) Wait a couple of minutes, your iDevice will reboot and that’s it. The jailbreak and Cydia installation is complete.
